During the Marvel presentation, it was confirmed that ‘Black Panther II’ will now premiere on July 8 2022 and is still being directed by Ryan Coogler.

Marvel Studio’s president Kevin Feige honored Boseman and seized the moment to announce that his character T’Challa will not be recast in the incoming film.

Rather, the the blockbuster will “explore the world of Wakanda & the rich characters introduced in the first film.”

His full comment on the matter read:

“I wanted to acknowledge the devastating loss of a dear friend and member of the Marvel Studios family. Chadwick Boseman was an immensely talented actor and an inspirational individual who affected all of our lives professionally and personally. His portrayal of T’Challa the Black Panther is iconic and transcends iteration of the character in any other medium from Marvel’s past.

To honor the legacy that Chad helped us build through his portrayal of the king of Wakanda, we want to continue to explore the world of Wakanda and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film.”

With that, what are…

The original release date was always 2022. 4 years after the original, most of the actors had prior commitments

I’m sorry but the character of T Challa was bigger than Chadwick, we need to see a black king. We need to see him and Storm get married. I feel like Chadwick was selfish not having a will or even recording a video saying it’s okay to recast him, and that it all sas bigger than him. Very sad.
